Commissioner to PDP: Prove Your N946M Alleged Allocation To Iyamho University

The Edo State Government has described the N946million purportedly allotted to Iyamho University in the 2018 budget as figment of imagination of the People’s Democratic Party Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih.

The State Commissioner for Education, Christopher Adesotu who spoke with newsmen in Benin City urged the PDP State Chairman to tender documentary evidence to substantiate the figures

Chief Orbih had during a press briefing in reaction to the signing of the 2018 Appropriation bill into law, posited the government budgeted the sum of N946million for construction of buildings, lecture theaters, office equipment in Edo University, Iyamho, which is supposed to a government and private sectors venture.

Dr Adesotu said the state government is currently given top priority attention to Tayo Akpata University in area of accreditation, structure, recruitment of academic and non academic staff to ensuring smooth take off of the institution as fully fledged university while College of Education, Ekiadolor is equally not left out

“I was the former State Vice Chairman to Chief Orbih while in PDP. I know his stock in trade. What he said was figment of his imagination. I challenge him to tender document to support his claims”, he said.

He said the state government has earmarked 300 primary schools in the state to kick start the technical education come March 2018 with a view to exposing the children to technology and computer at early stage in life

The Commissioner said the paradigm shift which is a complete departure from the old order was targeted at preparing the children for vocational learning once they get to Junior Secondary School.
