A 35-year-old man, Gadafi Ibrahim, on Wednesday appeared in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly beating up and injuring his neighbour.
The police charged Ibrahim, who resides in Kakuri, Kaduna, with two counts of criminal conspiracy and causing grievous hurt.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the matter was reported on Feb. 10, at the Magajin Gari Division Kaduna by the complainant, Mohammed Yunus.
Leo said that at about 10.30 a.m. Ibrahim and two others, at large, accosted the complainant and beat him up without any reason.
He said that Ibrahim stoned the complainant and injured him on the head and hand.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 59 and 113 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must submit two passport photographs.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until March 10 for hearing.
