Culpable Homicide: Kwara Court Remands 14 Suspected Cultists

An Ilorin Magistrate court has ordered the remand in the correctional facility of 14 suspected members of secret cults who allegedly attacked three members of a family in Ilorin, the Kwara stare capital.

The suspects, who were arraigned for alleged culpable homicide, are Mustapha Onide, Abdulmalik Abdulfatai, Kehinde Onimango, Ahmed Onide, Tunde Onide, Jimoh Sapo, Ibrahim Onide and Abdulgafar Fatai.

Others are Abdulrasak Abubakar, Yusuf Onimango, Hammed Onimango, Hussein Bello, Adam Olanrewaju and Jimoh Olayinka.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the complainants, while dripping from injuries they sustained on their faces as a result of the attack, reported at the police station that they were attacked for inquiring why the transaction of N6,000 they did at the Point of Sales (POS) with one Ibrahim Rasheed was not successful.

The FIR added that the suspects then descended on the victims, insulting and assaulting them and in the process, carted away phones valued at N2.3m, one wrist watch Rolex, N500,000 cash, while they also vandalised their vehicles.

The suspects, and others at large, it was gathered, are members of Aiye and Eiye secret cults who recently went on rampage, attacking, maiming and killing innocent people and destroying their property in Ilorin metropolis and its environs.

In his ruling, Magistrate Issa Agbetola who presided over the matter, refused the bail application moved by the suspects’ counsel and ordered that they be remanded in correctional facility till May 8, 2024.
