The Delta house of assembly rerun election in Ethiope west local government area was peaceful and calm in all the polling units.
Accreditation and voting began at about 8:30am while voting ended at about 2:30pm.
Speaking to newsmen, the chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) chief John Nani, stated that the election was peaceful and calm, as the people were out to vote for the candidate of their choice.
He advised all to remain calm and peaceful as anyone that emerged winner would represent all.
Also speaking, the Ethiope West council chairman Hon Oghenedoro Owoso affirmed that the election was peaceful.
While commending the independent electoral commission for being proactive and arriving the polling units on time, the council boss applauded the Ethiope West people for the peaceful conduct during the election.
Talking to newsmen at Oghara while monitoring the exercise, the Commissioner Bureau for Special duties, Hon Terry Etacherure, said he was hopeful that his party, the People’s Democratic Party, would win the election.
He advised voters to come out in their numbers to exercise their civic right by casting their votes.
Recall that the election petition tribunal court had cancelled the earlier election on the strength of petitions against the earlier outcome, directing a rerun in disputed polling units for the state house of assembly seat for Ethiope West state constituency.
