The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 28-year old man, Eseoghene Ezekiel Obeje for Faking his kidnap as well as allegedly masterminding the abduction with the murder of his sister in-law, Regina Ogana in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State Police Command in a statement signed at the weekend, and a copy made available to our correspondent, said that the Suspect demanded the Sum of N500,000 as ransom which was paid into his account, disclosing that Regina Ogana was killed after she was Kidnapped along side her husband ( elder brother of the Suspect) and her family members. DSP Bright Edafe confirmed that Eseoghene who is a member of the Eiye Confraternity, was suspected to have mastermind the kidnap with other accomplices, adding that Operatives of the Police stormed Odovie Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area where they arrested Eseoghene at the same spot where the sum of N1.300 was earlier paid as ransom. DSP Bright Edafe said:” The Command has been investigating the murder of one Regina Ogana female that was Kidnapped alongside her husband and Other members of her family on 2/8/2023″ disclosing that the police Command received another distress call from the husband of the deceased that one of his brothers Eseoghene Obeje, 28 years old made a suspicious call to him that he was kidnapped and that the Kidnappers were asking for a ransom of N500,000 and the money was transferred into his account for the ransom.
Meanwhile, The Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command has given a marching order to the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) Orerokpe Division to embark on an Intelligence led investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are arrested.
Consequently, on 11/8/2023, at about 11;45hours acting on technically generated information, Operatives of the Divisional Anti Crime Patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) CSP Paul Oboware stormed Odovie Community Ughelli North Local Government Area where they arrested Eseoghene Obeje and the sum of one million, three hundred thousand naira earlier paid as ransom for the release of his elder brother and husband of the deceased. DSP Bright Edafe confirmed that investigation revealed that the said Eseoghene Obeje is a member of Eiye Confraternity, and he faked his kidnap as well as masterminded the kidnap of his brother and other family members which led to the death of Regina Ogana.
