SUSPECTED THIEF ESCAPES DEATH, RUNS INTO A CHURCH

A young man, alleged to specialise in stealing motorcycles, has escaped being killed by an irate mob by running into a church in Agbor.

According to an eye witness, the young man was apprehended while trying to steal a motorcycle along the old Lagos-Asaba Road.

It was said that the young man ran out of luck when the owner of the motorcycle raised an alarm, leading to his being ambushed, apprehended and beaten up.

It was gathered that at the point the mob were trying to set him ablaze, he managed to escape and ran into one of the nearby churches in the area.

The irate mob were said to have given him a hot chase with blood all over his body until he managed to escape into the church for safety.

It took the intervention of some of the pastors and security men attached to the church to stop the angry mob who made several attempts to gain access into the church auditorium.

It was said that the suspect was later taken to the Central Hospital at Owa-Alero for treatment by the Police. But the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer in the Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident disclosing that investigation was ongoing into the incident.
