The Chairman, Kwara state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Sunday Timothy Adewole, has called on Nigerians to exhibit love and perseverance as the World marks the Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Adewole in his Easter message urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to use the period to preach forgiveness, peace and progress in view of the various challenges confronting the Nation.

The CAN Chairman, who said the Nation needs to move closer to God especially during this period, attributed the challenges facing the Country to the sinful acts of the people, including engagements in banditry, kidnapping and insurgency.

He stated that only prayers can change the situation for better as he advised citizens to continue to work towards sustained peace, unity and development of the Country.

He said: “Easter is one of the best periods which gives hope for the future, and if Christ has not risen our Christianity would be a failure.
Because Christ rose, we are the happiest people on earth, it means we would rise with Him when He comes again.”

Bishop Adewole prayed that this Easter would bring the hope “we have been looking for, a renewed hope from God. I believe that this Easter will bring absolute healing to those who are sick, He will give those who are looking for the fruit of the womb their heart desires by the grace of God, and whatever may be somebody’s need this is the best time to seek God’s favour.”

Meanwhile, the Easter celebration continues tomorrow as Christians converge on Budo Jesu, CAN Secretariat Budo Efo in Ilorin, the state capital.

The CAN Chairman urged all Christians to attend as it is an avenue to strengthen love and show brotherliness as directed by Jesus Christ at Galilee.
