Ex-governor Lalong Urges women To Participate In Golf Activities

The Ex-governor of Plateau State, Gov. Simon Lalong has on Tuesday called on women to fully participate and engage in the game of golf.

The governor who made the call during the Ladies Section of the IBB Golf and Country Club celebration of the women’s golf day that women’s Golf Day is a worldwide network celebrating women through golf and supporting one another.

Lalong said golf is a game for people especially in the United States it is a game you can not qualify the advantages to people, saying seeing a woman engaged in golf is to say what a man can do, a woman can do it better.

According to him, Nigeria women are coming up because we have a lot of people in golf academy, adding that there are 2 golf academy in Jos, we have in Lagos, Port Harcourt, a lot of places even in Abuja.

“I am very certain that years to come, we will have like Tiger Woods and all the women in golf. So there’s hope for Nigeria and there’s hope for Africa to also introduce serious professional Golfers especially ladies into the game.

Speaking, Lady Captain, IBB International Golf and country club, Mrs Comfort Folashade Olateju said the international golf day is to celebrate the ladies Golfers all over the world with the theme ” build the best vision of yourself “.

She said to achieve this, we have engaged 30 female caddies to play with and to empower them.

Also, Ex-NAPTIP DG, Dame Julie Donli Okoh encouraged ladies and female Golfers to come out, play and be like their male counterparts.

In the same vein, Competition and handicap Secretary, Jane Ahmed said the international women’s golf day started in 2017 and the ideal is to empower girls and for ladies to network, adding that it is a day of reuniting and bringing the new Golfers networking and empowering the young ones.

“When you say empower, people think it is about providing money but in the golf circle, it is a life long skills with mentorship, idea and information because that’s the key IBB Ladies club have decided to launch one lady member to empower one caddy.”
