Abba MoroCourt sends ex-minister to prison

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today(Monday) remanded Abba Moro in prison custody, on charges of fraud.
Moro, who is the immediate past Minister for Interior, a ministry over seeing Prisons and other similar organisations was brought to court today, February 29, 2016, following of money laundering charges slammed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Anwuli Chikere, gave the remand order pending his bail hearing which is fixed for Wednesday, March 2.
He is remanded along side, a Deputy Director in the ministry, F. O Alayebam‎i, while a former Permanent secretary in the ministry, Anastasia Nwaobia, was allowed to still enjoy her administrative bail, which was earlier granted by the EFCC.
they are. Facing an 11 counts charges of fraud to the tune of N675 million in connection with a botched Immigration Service recruitment exercise organised on March 15, 2014, Moro presided as minister, while Nwaobia served as Permanent secretary in the ministry.
The exercise that was generally seen as a fraud, led to the death of about 20 job seekers due to haphazard orgnaisation resulting into stampedes.
