In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command has successfully apprehended Saidu Abdulkadir, a notorious and wanted kidnapping kingpin responsible for terrorizing Abuja and its surrounding areas. The arrest came after Governor Wike had placed a N20 million bounty on the notorious criminal.
Saidu Abubakar, also known as Dahiru Adamu, was one of three wanted kingpins who narrowly escaped a raid by the Special Intervention Squad (IRT) and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Command.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Command, the arrest occurred during a raid on two kidnappers’ camps located on the border of Nasarawa and Abuja, near Kuje area council. The police successfully disbanded the camps, and Abdulkadir was apprehended after an intense gun battle where the criminals attempted to resist arrest.
During the operation, two abducted individuals, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who were taken from Kwaita village via Pegi district of Kuje area council, were rescued unharmed. Additionally, the preliminary investigation revealed that Abdulkadir masterminded the kidnapping and killing of Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti village.
The Commissioner of Police, CPr. Benneth Chinedum Igweh, emphasized that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining wanted suspects who are still on the run. He issued a stern warning to criminals in the FCT, asserting that there is no hiding place for them in the region. This successful operation represents a significant stride in the ongoing efforts to combat criminality and ensure the safety of residents in the territory.
