Impersonation: Police Arrest Suspect in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested one Habu Muhammad Kabir for allegedly impersonating officials of the Internal Revenue Service and duping people by collecting money from them in the name of Revenue.

The police at its headquarters in Gombe, while parading the suspect, said he went went to the Hajj Orientation Camp at the Government Arabic Teachers’ College, Gombe (ATC), and presented himself to the intending Pilgrim as staff of Gombe State Internal Revenue Services before duping them.

The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State, CP Oqua Etim, said the suspect was under investigation and would soon be charged to court.

The CP through the Command 2/C Spoke Person, ASP Sherif Sa’ad, said the suspect confessed to forging the agency’s ID card, receipt and stamp, as well as collecting the sum of 30,000 from two persons.

He also said the command had recorded several achievements during the week, which include apprehension of armed robbery and theft suspects, rapists, criminal conspirators, house trespassers, phone snatchers among others.

The CP further stated that during the arrests, the police equally recovered fake receipts, laptops, printer, forged ID card, cash, pants and rags, cutlasses, knives, bunch of charms, phones among others as exhibits.

Upon the completion of investigation, the suspects will be charged to court.
