The West African Action Network on Small Arms and Light Weapons in Africa (WAANSA), an international NGO, has conducted a fact-finding tour of Zamfara and other border states to assess security, peace, and economic development in the areas. WAANSA, a coalition of civil society organizations working on small arms and light weapons, aims to address human security issues. The delegation met with the management of Federal University Gusau (FUG), Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) Gusau, and the state leadership of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN). The visit is part of a broader effort to understand the security challenges in Zamfara and other affected states and will contribute to a border security conference scheduled for April in Istanbul.”
