The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has responded to allegations of diverting N3 billion, dismissing the reports as the work of mischief makers. In a statement, she attributed the report to fifth columnists aiming to tarnish her reputation amid ongoing investigations into the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) scandal by anti-graft agencies. Edu clarified that she never requested or withdrew N3 billion from NSIPA’s coffer during her tenure. She emphasized the approval of the Verification of the National Social Register (NSR) by the President and Federal Executive Council, stating that all programs under her purview received approval from the President. Edu distanced herself from the ongoing NSIPA investigations, asserting her commitment to providing support to vulnerable Nigerians in line with the government’s agenda.
