President Bola Tinubu has nominated four individuals as Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), awaiting Senate approval for a term of five years. These appointees are set to collaborate with the recently named CBN Governor, Yemi Cardoso.
A glimpse into the profiles of the new Deputy Governors of CBN:
1.Mrs. Emem Nnan Usoro:A graduate from both Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School.
Boasts a 20+ year banking career encompassing roles in Operations, Credit and Marketing, Branch and Relationship Management, and more.
Formerly held positions as Group General Manager and the Strategic Business Group Head in Abuja and Regional Head, Lagos Bank 2 at UBA.
A multiple-time recipient of UBA’s annual CEO Awards.
2.Mr. Philip Ikeazor:Holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Buckingham, UK, and is an alumnus of the Wharton-CEIBS-IESE Business School Global CEO Programme.
– Attended executive programmes at prominent institutions like Harvard and Wharton.
His illustrious career includes roles as the CEO of Keystone Bank Limited, CEO of Ecobank Kenya Limited, and several directorships, including Union Bank Nigeria and Union Bank UK PLC.
He is affiliated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
3.Dr. Bala Bello:Hailing from Taraba State, Dr. Bello’s extensive career includes experiences in Banking, Capital Markets, and Pension Fund Management.
Known as an industry trailblazer, he was appointed as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank in 2017 by then-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bello’s accomplishments have set him apart as a leader in his domain.
4.Muhammad Sani Abdullahi:
An adept in international development, Abdullahi served in significant roles, including a policy adviser at the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s Executive Office in New York.
He was the Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Kaduna State.
He earned his Master’s degrees from the University of Manchester and Ahmadu Bello University, with additional certifications from institutions like the London School of Economics and Oxford University.
