Ondo State’s Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, refuted claims on Friday regarding his alleged pre-signed resignation letter that has been making rounds on social media. He emphasized that he has neither resigned nor has plans to leave his post as the state’s Deputy Governor.
In a statement titled, ‘Regarding the Alleged Pre-Signed Resignation Letter’, Aiyedatiwa clarified, “It has come to my notice that there’s talk of a so-called pre-resignation letter signed by me circulating in the public. I must emphasize that at no point did I sign or intend to sign such a letter. I was elected alongside Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu and took an oath on February 24th, 2021, committing to a four-year term that ends on February 23rd, 2025. I pledged loyalty to the Governor and to uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Aiyedatiwa further advised the people of Ondo State, the State Assembly, and the broader public to dismiss any such purported resignation letters.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that the deputy governor’s media assistants were dismissed from their roles. This was confirmed in a statement by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.
