Nigerian music sensation Joeboy has embarked on a significant career move, marking the end of his five-year tenure with Empawa as he launches his own entertainment label, Young Legend. Simultaneously, Joeboy has entered into a partnership with Warner Music, making him the latest flagship artist representing Africa for the international record label.
During his time with Empawa, Joeboy achieved substantial success, releasing two EPs (“Love & Light” and “Body, Soul & Spirit”) and two albums (“Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic” and “Body & Soul”). His body of work, including numerous hit singles and features, garnered over 2 billion streams across major digital service providers.
As the CEO of Young Legend, Joeboy will take charge of the label’s operations, while Deola Jaiyesimi assumes the role of Head of Label, responsible for nurturing the next wave of Afrobeats superstars on a global scale.
This strategic move follows a trend among Nigerian music industry leaders, including Olamide, Don Jazzy, and Mr. Eazi, who leverage their influence and business acumen to spotlight emerging talents while advancing their own musical careers on the global stage.
