Journalists Denied Access as Delta Governor Visits Troubled Community

By Milcah Tanimu

In the aftermath of the recent violence that claimed the lives of military personnel and civilians in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori embarked on a visit to assess the extent of the damage on Monday.

However, journalists were barred from covering the governor’s assessment tour by the military Joint Task Force (JTF). The JTF deployed personnel and an armoured personnel carrier tank to block major entry points to Okuama, effectively halting vehicular and pedestrian traffic, including media personnel, from entering the community.

Governor Oborevwori and JTF officials engaged in a closed-door meeting that lasted approximately one hour.

Further details will be provided as they emerge.
