Kwara State government has approved immediate release of the sum of N120m as bailout funds to four State-owned tertiary institutions.

The affected tertiary institutions are the three Colleges of Education and the College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies.

This was disclosed on Friday by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Alabi Afees Abolore,

while addressing journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, adding that the fund was an intervention by the state government to aid the smooth running of the institutions.

It would be recalled that several interventions of this nature had taken place across the tertiary institutions in the state since the inception of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration in 2019.

Urging the managements of the four institutions to judiciously utilise the funds to serve the purpose for which it was released,

Dr. Abolore expressed the administration’s readiness and commitment to improving the status of all the citadels of learning in the state.

He, however, enjoined the institutions to reciprocate and complement the efforts of the state government by upgrading their teaching methodology in order to achieve an enhanced qualitative academic service delivery.

The Commissioner also encouraged all Heads of Tertiary Institutions in the state to be steadfast and committed towards supporting the policy direction of the present administration.
