Kwara State Government has reiterated its readiness to have the health sector awakened to its responsibilities.
Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, who is also the Chairman of the Kwara State Taskforce on Immunisation and Primary Health Care, said this at the meeting he held with stakeholders on Monday in Ilorin, the state capital.
The Deputy Governor having listened to the recommendations from stakeholders, constituted a seven man committee on how the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency would come under a single roof to align with the National initiative.
The committee consists of the Chairman House Committee on Health and Environment, Hon Abdulrazaq Owolabi as the Chairman of the committee, Representative of the Kwara State First Lady, Commissioners of Health, Finance and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Executive Secretary of Kwara State Primary Health Care and the Emir of Shonga.
Earlier, Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq, had disclosed that Kwara State is now rated as one of the States with committed political will in the health sector by the Federal Ministry of Health, adding that achievements in the health sector could be traced to the intervention and commitment of the present administration to the health of the people.
The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mrs Abimbola Folohunsho, gave the breakdown on results from the previous outreach of the immunization team, confident that the state would be ranked better now, particularly with improvements in the outreach and renewed commitment of government.
