Kwara: Man in NSCDC net for allegedly stealing two plasma TV sets

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded a 32-year-old Olaleke Tope, allegedly described as a serial house breaker, for allegedly stealing two Plasma Television sets.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the suspect, who is a father of two, is a graduate of Business and Entrepreneur from Ibrahim Babangida state University, Niger state.

He said: “One Hashim Bala Ibrahim, 38 years old, of No 16 Adamu Abubakar Road GRA, on Tuesday came to our office to report this case, he confirmed that robbers came to his house between 0300hrs and 0400hrs and carted away two television sets namely Samsung curved UHD TV (65 inches) and TCL 4K smart TV (55 inches).The suspects ran away immediately they noticed the family members were awake

“The complainant picked up his vehicle with the intention of coming to make official report to security agents. In the process, he noticed a strange vehicle moving very slowly along their street. He made efforts to stop the vehicle but the vehicle zoomed off and the complainant ran after the vehicle, he later intercepted the suspect and his vehicle along Maraba road. The suspect jumped out of the car and ran away.

“Operatives of Operation Harmony of the NSCDC swung into action immediately and towed the vehicle to the state Command. During investigation, a phone was found in the car, a particular number was picked from the prime suspect’s call history which led to a soft target that later assisted in arresting the prime suspect.

“Tope Olaleke, the prime suspect, having admitted in his confessional statement confirmed that he and one Majid who is presently at large broke into the complainant’s house and stole two plasma Television sets.

“In the course of searching the prime suspect’s house and shop, about five plasma television sets worth millions of naira were recovered and other electronic appliances.

“The Commandant, NSCDC Kwara state Command, Commandant Makinde Iskil Ayinla, has been fully briefed and has directed the Legal Unit of the corps to take necessary action in charging the suspect to court.”
