Finally the prolonged indefinite strike action embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Nasarawa State Chapter has been put to rest after intervention by elder’s forum who mediated between the striking workers and the state government.
Addressing journalists at the end of joint negotiation meeting, Chairman of the Council, Comrade Sule Ode said the organized labour have come to agreement with government on some of their pressing demands concerning the welfares of workers in the state.
Some the agreements reached include paying all entitlements of civil servants who were promoted including those that are yet to receive their letter from 2011-2014 and yet to enjoy their financial benefits just as their counterparts within four months from the date they signed the agreement before June 30 2016.
The organized Labour also hammered on government to process all promotions uniformly that are due from July 2014,- 2016 without financial backing considering the financial predicament of government until it’s stabilized.
On the issue of annual increment for workers, NLC pardoned government without prejudice to any previous agreement between the parties that all increment from December 2014 are waived in view of the present financial in stability.
However government has agreed to implement one incremental step of 2015 to all public servants with full Financial support effect from July 1 2016, they equally called on government as matter of urgency to constitute the membership of the state civil service commission to block likeges on give been appointment to deserved citizens of the state.
Comrade Ode announced that government has agreed to review current pension of retries upward from N20 million to undisclosed figure.
NLC also said that issues of corrected CONMESS for medical doctors is receiving government attention with a view to addressed all their demands on off before March 31,2016. But on the autonomy of tertiary institutions it is noted that by the Law establishing them they are operationally autonomous, functioning through their respective Governing Council therefore Labour demands in this direction had already channel to governing councils to submit reports before March 31, 2016.
“The organized labour to come up with a laws ,circulars and documents relating to professional allowance to the implementation committee for consideration within one months from the date this agreement was signed.
NLC also called on government to liaise with contracted sky bank plc to ensure the release of Biometric Data captured report publicly forthwith.
On the issues of percentage payment of salaries to local government workers has compile government to stop what they called financial conspiracy between councils chairmen and the state through platform of joint account that must stop without further notice and in the event where by allocation to local government from federation account can’t pay salaries that money should kept In account of various councils pending the receive of next month allocation
