Argentinian football legend Lionel Messi has been nominated in three categories for the prestigious ESPY 2023 award, presented by American broadcast TV station ABC.

Messi, the former Barcelona and PSG star player, has had an exceptional season, culminating in winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. With seven goals and three assists, he played a pivotal role in leading the Argentinian team to victory. Notably, he scored twice in the final against France at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Messi has been nominated in the ESPY Best Championship Performance category, alongside other remarkable athletes such as Nikola Jokic (NBA), Rose Zhang (LPGA), and Leon Edwards (UFC).

Additionally, Messi is among the nominees for the Best Athlete category, where he is joined by prominent figures such as Aaron Judge (Baseball), Patrick Mahomes (NFL), and Nikola Jokic (NBA).

Furthermore, the 35-year-old football maestro is also in the running for the Best Soccer Player award. His competitors in this category include Aitana Bonmati, Erling Haaland, and Sophia Smith.

Having previously won the ESPY for Best International Athlete in 2015, Messi’s current nominations serve as further recognition of his exceptional talent and ongoing contributions to the sport. Fans eagerly await the announcement of the winners at the ESPY 2023 awards ceremony.
