Justice M.T.M Aliyu of the Kaduna State High Court on Friday sentenced one Balarabe Salihu to eight months in gaol for N2m fraud.
The Kaduna Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the convict on a one-count charge which bordered on criminal breach of trust.
Justice Aliyu sentenced Salihu after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The judge, however, gave him an option of N200,000 fine and further ordered him to return the N2m to the victim, in restitution.
Earlier, the EFCC prosecution counsel, Y.J Matiyak, told the court that sometime in November 2020 one Garba Hassan gave the convict N2m to supply children clothes.
Matiyak said the convict “misappropriated“ the money and refused to supply the clothes to the complainant.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 311 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
