Manchester United Considering Rasmus Højlund as Alternative to Victor Osimhen

Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund as a backup option if they fail to secure their primary targets this summer.

According to recent reports, United would need to pay a fee of €60 million to acquire Højlund, whose value has increased significantly at Atalanta over the past season. La Stampa also suggested that the 20-year-old Danish striker is likely to join the English club this summer.

Gianluca di Marzio, in an interview with Danish outlet Sportbonuskode, discussed the situation and revealed that Manchester United has a good relationship with Højlund’s new agent. The club would pursue the young talent if they are unable to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Di Marzio stated, “Manchester United have scouted him, and his agent has close relations with the management of Manchester United. Højlund is seen as an investment for the future. Whether Manchester United signs Rasmus Højlund depends on their ability to acquire Victor Osimhen. If they are unable to secure Osimhen, there is a high chance that Højlund will be their long-term investment.”

In a recent interview, Højlund expressed his desire to progress in his career, and joining Manchester United would certainly represent a significant step up. Last season, he scored nine goals and provided four assists in just 1834 minutes of play in Serie A. While the Danish talent has been linked with other clubs, United appears to be leading the race for his signature.
