More Trouble For Gov Ishaku as Crowd Boos in Donga


The occasion was the presentation of Staff of Office to Chief of Donga, Ambassador Salvala Varzoa Shimbura, on Thursday, where Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku was the Special Guest of Honour.
General Theophilus Danjuma rtd, former Minister of Defence was in a state of confusion as the crowd booed his political god son and Governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, calling him unprintable names.

Our correspond nt reports that, the Crowd, mainly supporters of the PDP his Party and those of the APC openly booed Gov Ishaku, saying “Bamu so, bamu so” meaning we don’t want you and calling him “Barawo” a thief in the presence of T.Y Danjuma.
National Trail reports that the whole drama started at the middle of the programme when Governor Ishaku who was seated on the high table stood up to pay homage to his political god father, General T.Y. Danjuma at the venue of the programme when the Crowd, comprising of Youths and Women shouted into the air shouting “bamu so, bamu so,” while some calling him “thief, thief.”

Some of the Crowd shouting “Ishaku is the worst Governor and a failure as well as a disgrace to Taraba State “.

Governor Ishaku was allegedly chased out of Wukari on Wednesday night by the angry youths who vowed not to allow the Governor pass the night in Wukari due to alleged maladministration and bad governance.

It was gathered that because of the tensions that enveloped Wukari on Wednesday night, Ishaku had no choice than to relocate to Takum local government, before returning to Donga on Thursday for the programme in Donga.

Our correspondent gathered that before the arrival of Ishaku at Wukari and Donga local government areas, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for local government and Chieftancy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Yero allegedly left Jalingo for Wukari ahead of time with millions of Naira to persuade and plead with the youths to sheath their sword against the Governor.

It was gathered that what really angered the youths was the Taraba State House of Assembly granting the request of the Governor to take a loan of N5.5 on Wednesday few hours before his departure for Wukari.

The youths accused the Governor of collecting billions of naira in loans without any project commemorate to the money, including his refusal to pay arrears of pension and gratuity to their parents and relatives.

According to John Agyo, a youth leader from Wukari who spoke to our correspondent in Donga accused Governor Ishaku of looting the state resources through loans, which he alleged was running to over N200 billions.

Agyo maitland that Ishaku is a failure, adding that the people of Wukari and the entire Southern Senatorial Zone will resist any attempt to allow Ishaku represent the Zone in the forthcoming Senatorial elections. ///.
