Brutally Killed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Obasanya Samuel, with others severely Injured by rampaging gunmen at Isiokolo Police Division, in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, has sparked off fresh move by the police who are currently on the trail of the gunmen with a view to ensuring their arrest.
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the Police Division in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State unexpectedly, thereby Killing the ASP Obasanya Samuel, and Injured at the entrance of the station while another serving ASP Robinson Irabo and PC Chukwudi Abanu were on guard when the incident Occurred.
Sources said that the gunmen attacked the Police Station at night and killed ASP Obasanya Samuel, while ASP Robinson Irabo was shot on his left hand as Constable escaped. Recall that in less than four months, nearly 10 Police officers have been killed in Ughelli North, and Isoko South Local Government Areas of Delta State, while in Ughelli North, an Inspector, Destiny Ifeanyi, was Kidnapped and Killed, PC Ujeya was shot dead , two other officers were shot dead at Ekredjeya , another Jude Ukpaka attached to Dragon 19 was killed along the East west Road, and four Others that were shot dead and their vehicle set ablaze at Oleh round about in Isoko South Local Government Areas, respectively.
DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State Police Command confirmed that the Station Officer , ASP Samuel Obasanya and two others, ASP Robinson Irabo and PC Chukwudi Abanu were at the entrance of the station when their assailants, three men on a motorcycle attacked them, adding that:” The station officer, ASP Samuel Obasanya and two others were at the entrance of the station when the assailants shot at them.They Opened fire on them and Sped the scene, and the Injured officers were rushed to Isiokolo General Hospital for medical attention, and ASP Samuel Obasanya was confirmed dead and his corpse deposited at the morgue,” disclosing that the police Commissioner in the state, CP Wale Abass detailed Operatives to uncover the hideouts of the gunmen
Meanwhile, The traditional ruler of Okpanam Community in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM.Micheal Mbanefo Ogbolu Ugoani has appealed to the Council Chairman, Mr Innocent Esewezie to extend the order banning the activities of Commercial motorcycle Operators to the Community. The monarch who spoke to Journalists on Monday in Asaba said that the call became necessary due to the nefarious activities of the Commercial motorcycle Operators popularly known as Okada Riders in the area, explaining that the excesses of majority of the motorcycle Operators who are from Adamawa State have been allegedly posing threats to the residents in Okpanam Community adding that because they lack education, allegedly contribute to their nuisance
The monarch however narrated how some motorcycle Operators chased a couple riding in a Mercedes Benz Car to Ugoani street and almost killed them, but for the intervention of some indigenes who were present at the scene, noting that the Couple’s car was damaged beyond repair and was later towed to Okpanam Police Station.
