Former Minority Whip House of Representatives and Co- Convener, Edo Peoples Movement, Hon Samson Osagie has slammed Governor Obaseki for lying to Edo people and the entire world that there was no altercation between him and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole
Honourable Samson Osagie berated the governor on a release made available to journalists in Benin City on Saturday.
You would recalls that on the 1st of May 2019 when Governor Obaseki returned from his one month vacation overseas, he told journalists at the Benin airport that, there was no feud between himself and his predecessor and benefactor Adams Oshiomhole .
Hon Samson Osagie wondered why the Governor had to abandoned the State with his Deputy and Secretary to Government to go and recruit the African richest man and other people to intervene in the festering crisis in the Edo State APC.
He said, ” the Governor has threatened to deal with the National Chairman and his supporters in Edo State for daring to challenge his ambition for a second term. If there is not feud , like he told Edo people why did Dangote, Niyi Adebayo ètal have to broker a meeting between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor. ”
According to him, “its important to state that aside the National Chairman Governor Obaseki have issues with the vast majority of APC members in Edo State.He advised Edo people to be wary of the things the Governor had been telling them noting that the Edo Peoples Movement had been justified in asserting that the Governor has been deceiving them in most of the things he says.”
He Commended the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for his fatherly disposition to the Governor and APC members as he remains the motivation for them. He urged him to feel the pulse of the vast majority of APC members in Edo State in the choice of a new leader in the State.
Osagie enjoined, ” all EPM members in Edo State to remain focused on the mission of the Movement despite several acts of harassment, intimidation and threat to our persons , freedom , businesses and properties noting that what it takes for evil to triumph is for men of good conscience to sit down and do nothing.”
He calls on Governor Godwin Obaseki to immediately name the politicians in Edo State who have asked him to share the State resources with them.
“This cheap blackmail will not stop the EPM from pursuing its aim of rescuing the party and state from him. Perhaps too, Edo people will like to know what the huge monthly Security Vote of Half a billion naira(#500m) is meant for in the face of insecurity in the state.
Adding that, ” government that thrives on falsehood and deceit of the people will definitely be shortlived. Such is the current trajectory of governance in Edo State”. He concluded.
