PDP, APC Bicker Over Fake INEC Press Release


The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has pointed accusing fingers at two opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic party, PDP and the Labour Party of masterminding the controversial press release, on the alleged investigation of its Presidential standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Director of communications of the Tinbu Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, even hinted of possible legal action against the two political oarties.
Onanuga told journalists in Abuja that the two opposition parties may have conspired to release the letter, purported to have emanated from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which said the electiral 7mpire is investigating Bola Ahmed Tin7 u over alleged involvement in drugs and the consequent forfeiture if $460,000 to the American Government.
Onanuga also pointed accusing fingers at some television stations if complicity in the plot to demarket Bola Tinubu.
In a seift reaction however, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Daniel Bwala dismissed APCs allegations, saying it was a self inflicted injury, intended to sway public discourse away from the issue of drugs and money forfeiture.
Bwala who spoke on AIT programme alleged that, the APC was crying foul 9ver its own spilled milk, as the PDP has no hand in faking the INEC release.
He explained that, even before INEC issued the rebuttal, the PDP could ser through the press release, that it was fake, and the PDP may have fine it to take away public attention from the real issues at stake.
On its part, Arise News Television has disclaimed the release and tendered public apology for flashing the story when it freshly broke out.
