Amb. Umar Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asserted that the party is poised to assume control of Ondo State due to the prevailing spirit of unity within its ranks.

Damagum made this declaration while presenting a certificate of return to the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi, in Abuja on Tuesday.

He emphasized the PDP’s readiness to seize the opportunity presented by the disorganization within other political parties, notably the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), by rallying behind Ajayi Agboola, the winner of the party’s last gubernatorial primary.

Damagum stated, “Our opposition counterparts were unable to organize themselves, but we, in the opposition, were expected to excel, and we did not disappoint. We produced a candidate with unanimous support. This achievement is a testament to our preparedness to assume control of Ondo State.”

He further highlighted the importance of Ajayi’s role as the party’s flag bearer and urged him to diligently engage with fellow aspirants to ensure a united front in the upcoming election.

Responding to Damagum’s remarks, Agboola expressed his commitment to working with party stakeholders to secure victory in the forthcoming election.

He emphasized the significance of unity, dialogue, and inclusivity in overcoming challenges and delivering positive change to the people of Ondo State.

Agboola also extended gratitude to the election committee, party leadership, and delegates for their efforts in ensuring a smooth and transparent process.

The PDP candidate concluded by expressing optimism and determination to campaign with integrity and focus on addressing the pressing issues facing the state.

The remarks were made during a ceremony attended by party officials and stakeholders, underscoring the PDP’s concerted efforts to mobilize support and secure victory in Ondo State.
