Police Arraigns Man-26 In Benue Court Over Armed Robbery, Murder Charges

Benue Police Command has arraigned a 26-year- old man Shadrack Isaiah of Ojodu in Kogi state before a Makurdi chief magistrate court over charges of armed robbery and murder.

Prosecuting police officer Inspector Godwin Ato informed the court that one Umoru Usman of Oshugbudu village, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State reported to the police that on November 8, his uncle’s son Ochoyodu Umoru of the same address went out for his business but could not return.

He said the complainant further revealed to the police that a search was conducted and body of the deceased was found along Okputu- nobi, Akpachap road in Agatu Local Government Area with bullet wounds on his chest.

Prosecution equally told the court that during police investigation the suspect Isaiah Shadrach was arrested for allegedly committing the crime, while the motorcycle belonging to the deceased was also recovered from him.

Plea of the accused for bail was not taken by the court for want of jurisdiction while prosecution argued that investigation was still in progress and asked for adjournment.

Ruling the chief magistrate Kelvin Mbanongon ordered that the accused be remanded at the federal correctional center Makurdi and adjourned the case to January 2 next year.
