“Police Detain Four Officers for Alleged Kidnapping of Rivers Hotel Worker, Parades 12 Criminal Suspects”*

The Rivers State Police Command has detained four police officers over their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a hotel worker in Port Harcourt. The officers reportedly intercepted the victim, searched him, and then demanded a ransom from his family. It was revealed that the police officers had apprehended the victim on his way to work, searched his belongings, and found pictures indicating his employment at a hotel. They allegedly demanded N1 million for his release, threatening to kill him if the ransom was not paid. The victim contacted his boss, who then alerted the police. The officers negotiated the ransom with an undercover officer posing as the victim’s father. The Commissioner of Police stated that the arrested officers are in custody, pending an official complaint from the victim. Additionally, the command paraded 12 criminal suspects, including cult leaders involved in kidnapping and armed robbery. In a separate development, 13 officers were arrested for indecent dressing during a patrol by a monitoring unit in Port Harcourt. The arrested officers are currently in detention. The Rivers State Police Command has not provided comments on the arrest of the officers involved in the alleged kidnapping.
