Scholar urges parents to support children in pursing Islamic, western education

Mr Muhyideen Yusuf, the Kaduna Branch Chairman of Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), has urged parents to support their children to acquire Islamic and western education in order to prepare them for decent living.

Yusuf gave the advice during the opening of NASFAT’s maiden Annual Quranic Competition on Sunday in Kaduna.

He said children should be encouraged to be versed in Islamic and western education which would allow them to be decent and well guided in life.

He said that the event was organised by NASFAT to deepen religious knowledge, peace and unity, as well as promote the true teachings of Islam and its values.

Yusuf said the event was also to celebrate the Holy Qur’an which was revealed in the Holy month of Ramadan.

In his ramark, Chairman of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition, Alhaji Ishak Yusuf, also urged parents to priotize Qu’ranic knowledge to their children while pushing them to acquire western education.

He said Qu’ranic education inculcates moral values in children from early stage of life and prepare them to be good ambassadors of Islam wherever they find themselves.

Our correspondent reports that the competition was in three categories: Under-10 years category, 11- 17 years and 18-40 years.

A total of 31 persons participated in the three categories and all were presented with a copy of the Holy Qur’an and certificate of participation, while the winners received cash reward and certificate.

In the Under-10 years female category, Aisha Hussain emerged winner, followed by Aisha Lukman in second position.

In the male category, Muktar Mustapha and Mohammad Sani emerged first and second respectively.

Ahmad Hussain and Abdulhafiz Abdulfai came first and second in the 11- 17 years male category while Sumayya Hussaina and Rahamatu Abdullahi won the female category.

our correspondent also reports that Faiza Suleiman emerged first and Roufiat Yusuf was second in the female 18-40 years category, with Kamaludeen Alimi and Abdulwahed Abdulhafiz clinching the first and second position in the male category.

Special prayer was offered to seek Allah’s blessings, mercy and forgiveness to all Muslims and the country.
