Senate Confirms 45 Ministerial Nominees, Some Nominations Deferred

ABUJA- The Senate has successfully confirmed 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu. However, the nominations of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Abubakar Danladi, the former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, and Stella Okotete, a nominee from Delta State, were not approved by the Senate.

During the thorough seven-day screening process of the forty-nine ministerial nominees submitted by President Tinubu, the Senate encountered security reports that necessitated further clearance for some nominees.

In contrast, the Senate approved the nominations of prominent figures, including the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Senator Dave Umahi, the former Governor of Ebonyi State and Deputy Majority Senate Leader, Festus Keyamo, SAN, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, and Dele Alake as Ministers Designate.

Overall, 45 out of the 48 nominees received confirmation from the Senate, while certain nominations were deferred for additional security clearance.
