SO Vows To Drag Prof Al-Amin To EFCC Over Illegal Acquisation Of Govt Property

Network of Civil Society for Integrity (NCSI) has unveiled its plan to drag the immediate past Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Prof. Mohammed Al-Amin to Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for acquiring FHA Guest House in Kado, Abuja without due process.

NCSI in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Akujiobi, issued to newsmen Friday in Abuja. He expressed utmost displeasure over the way and manner the former FHA boss took over a government without the consent of the board and the Minister.
According to Comr Akujiobi, FHA Guest House Kado that is meant to house chief executives and top management staff of FHA was single handedly taken over by Prof Al-Amin without the consent of the board and the minister.
His words: “We want the board and the Minister of Works and Housing to set up inquiry into the single handed purchase of this property, we need receipts and payment voucher, bidding processes into the purchase of FHA Guest House located in Kado, Abuja by the immediate past Managing Director.
“We also want the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to set up an enquiry into how a public officer holder would monopolize a guest house meant to house chief executives of FHA, FESTAC Management, FHA Management, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Housing and others.”
“We will follow this matter up, this impunity by public office holders must stop, we will drag him to EFCC, ICPC, and relevant government agency,” Akujiobi stated.
According Comr. Akujiobi, tax payers money was used to build that guest house for staff to function effectively, so, how can a single man appropriate a federal guest house meant to be housing subsequent MDs of the agency.
He said according CDSI’s findings, FHA board did not approve the outright acquisition of the guest house by the Prof Al-Amin, “There was no competitive bidding or advertorial to allow competence or integrity.”
“We have contacted our lawyers to drag Prof. Al-Amin to court bearing in mind that the government of President Buhari is known for clean sheet and does not accommodate such impunity.
We will also write to President Buhari, Secrtary to the Government of the Federation, National Assembly, and media houses to expose this irregularity in our system, hoping that others will learn and not run government agencies like their farmland, Comr Akujiobi said.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Acting Managing Director/ Chief Executive of the Federal Housing Authority, Umar Gonto, proved abortive before press time.
