In a notable fixture for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, they are slated to take on the Republic of Benin at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan this June. This match marks a crucial juncture in their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, following scheduled encounters with South Africa and Benin Republic.
Originally planned to play Benin in their territory, logistical issues arose as CAF found no suitable venue for the match. Consequently, the Benin Football Association sought cooperation from Ivory Coast football authorities, securing access to the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, a venue familiar to the Nigerian team from their participation in the 2023 AFCON.
This stadium, where Nigeria contested seven matches, including the tournament final, offers a sense of familiarity for the Super Eagles. Currently, Nigeria stands at third place in Group B of the qualifiers, having drawn both matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. They aim to secure a victory and improve their standings in the group.
