President Bola Tinubu has named Zaccheus Adedeji as the interim Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
In a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, it was revealed that Adedeji would hold this acting role for 90 days before potentially being confirmed for a full four-year term. The statement’s title reads, ‘President Tinubu announces new interim head for the Federal Inland Revenue Service.’
Furthermore, the President instructed the outgoing FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, who began his tenure in December 2019, to commence his three-month pre-retirement leave, aligning with Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. This will lead to his official retirement on December 8, 2023.
Adedeji, an accounting graduate with honors from Obafemi Awolowo University, previously held positions as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance, and the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council.
According to the President’s directives, Adedeji’s appointment is effective immediately.
