President Tinubu has formally requested the Nigerian Senate to confirm Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as the chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). This request was communicated through a letter read on the Senate floor during a plenary session.
Tinubu’s decision to nominate Bello was announced in a press statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, on May 8. In the statement, Ngelale highlighted Bello’s extensive professional background, spanning over 25 years in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia.
Pending confirmation by the Senate, Bello is poised to succeed Aliyu Kankia, who has been serving as the acting Chairman of the CCB. Tinubu’s nomination underscores his commitment to appointing individuals with distinguished expertise to key positions within government institutions.
