Top political figures, including former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and ex-Minister Musiliu Obanikoro, were present on Friday as Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC Chairman, laid his wife to rest.
The funeral service for the late Apostle Esther Ojelabi was held at the Lagos State University Auditorium in Ojo. She passed away on March 24 at the age of 64.
Also in attendance were the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; former Deputy Governor Senator Idiat Adebule; and Senator Tokunbo Abiru (Lagos East), among other dignitaries.
Delivering the sermon, Senior Apostle Joseph Akanbi, Coordinating Minister of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church, described the deceased as a woman of faith who lived a life of service, love, and prayer. He urged Nigerians to reflect on their spiritual lives and show genuine love for one another.
Akanbi also warned against the dangers of materialism, stating it could distract believers from living purposefully and faithfully.
“The consciousness of why we are on earth helps us to live a life pleasing to God and beneficial to humanity,” he noted.
