A tragic accident occurred in Magboro, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State over the weekend, resulting in the death of a pregnant woman and injuries to her two-year-old child. The incident happened when a truck lost its brakes and control.
According to reports, the truck driver struggled to control the vehicle after it experienced brake failure and eventually veered into a market area, colliding with several people and objects. The truck also crushed a car and a motorcycle, trapping them underneath. Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene.
The pregnant woman, who remains unidentified, had been at the market to purchase food items when the tragic incident occurred. An eyewitness described the horrifying scene, recounting that the woman attempted to flee with her child but was impeded by her gown, causing her to fall and be run over by the out-of-control truck.
The injured child was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was engaged in ongoing rescue operations, as confirmed by Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the FRSC.
