Yuletide- NSCDC Assures BSEMA Of Hitch Free Exercise In IDPs Camp Across Benue

Few days to Christmas,Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp,NSCDC, Benue State command has assured Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, of more collaboration to ensure a hitch free yuletide especially in the 14 IDPs camp across the state.

Commandant NSCDC Benue State command Yakubu Ibrahim gave the assurance when he received on a courtesy visit acting Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency,BSEMA, Sir James Iorpuu at his office in Makurdi.

He explained that the command whose mandate is to respond to disaster and emergencies as well as secure lives and property is deeply concerned about the plight of the IDPs, revealing that the command is working under ground to provide cover for the safe return and resettlement of all IDPs in the state to their ancestral homes.

The NSCDC commandant further disclosed that to actualize it’s plans, the command has deployed over 50 personnel of it’s men from the agro- rangers unit to stop further crisis between herders and farmers, adding that the commands peace and reconciliation unit has equally been made functional working assiduously to ensure that peace is maintained among crisis prone communities.

He expressed appreciation to the Acting Executive Secretary BSEMA for the visit and for always responding to the plight of IDPs and other humanitarian challenges in the state and assured him of the commands collaboration at all times.

In a remark, the Acting Executive Secretary BSEMA Sir James Iorpuu said governor Hyacinth Alia was passionate about plight of Internally Displaced Person’s, IDPs in the state including their resettlement and safe return to their ancestral homes.

He appealed to the state commandant to facilitate deployment of his men to all the 14 IDPs camp across the state to check mate criminal activities in the camps and other vulnerable population during the Christmas period.
