JAMB regularisation of KWASU’S MLS graduands resolved by govt
***Law students also to be enlisted for Law School admission of 2023

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved the regularisation and mobilisation of graduands of Medical Laboratory Science of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, for the National Youth Service Corps scheme (NYSC).
State Commissioner for Tertiary Education Dr. Alabi Afees Abolore, who disclosed this in a statement in Ilorin by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Mansurat Amuda-Kannike, assured concerned stakeholders, including the graduands of the Medical Laboratory Science as well as final year students of the Faculty of Law, that the matter has been amicably resolved, adding that the affected graduands of the Medical Laboratory Science would be mobilised in the remaining NYSC batch of 2023, while students of the Faculty of Law would also be enlisted for the Nigeria Law School admission of 2023.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to giving priority attention to the welfare of the students in the state, adding that the state government would not rest on its oars in safeguarding the interests of the students whom, he noted, are leaders of tomorrow.
Dr. Abolore commended the management of the Kwara State University Malete for its swiftness in bringing the issues at stake to the notice of the Ministry for priority attention.
The Commissioner, however, stressed the need for other state-owned tertiary institutions to also continue to synergize with the Ministry towards enhancing swift interventions by government on sensitive matters.
While apologising for their action which resulted in a peaceful protest by the students on 29th March, 2023, the elated graduands, in a message, lauded the state government and KWASU management for their swift actions towards amicable resolution of the matter.
“Please forgive our excesses during this time too. We understand that all hands are on deck to get us all mobilised as soon as possible”, the message added.
Meanwhile, 3,733 outstanding cases of regularisation of admission with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has also been resolved.
In his reaction, KWASU’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, said the University was determined to facilitate the progression of its students, adding that the remaining 475 students would also be cleared, while appreciating “the responsiveness and proactiveness of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration across all tertiary institutions in the State”.
