Toro LGA Promotes 1,700 Staff
By Sule Aliyu, Bauchi
Bauchi Local Government Service Commission has received a pat on the back over its recent promotion of 1, 703 staff of Toro Local Government Council in the state.
Toro Local Government Head of Administration, Yakubu Bala Dansidi who noted that the promotion of 1, 703 out of 2, 030 staff in its payroll is unprecedented, said it will go a long way in boosting the staff morale.
Dansidi, who was speaking while receiving members of Democratic Enlightenment Initiative (DEI), a non-governmental organization, recalled that the council’s staff has been neglected by successive administrations in the state in terms of promotion.
Alhaji Yakubu Dansidi also commended the governor Abubakar-led administration for the renovation of 194 schools out of the 309 primary and 86 junior secondary schools in the Local Government Area, a feat he described as exceptional in the history of education in the area.
These achievements, he said, were in addition to the pupils feeding in most of the council’s schools, provision of water hand-pumps and conveniences as well as teaching and learning materials in the schools, among others.
He explained that the educational structure renovation included all the Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools established in 1976, while three other model schools in the area were earmarked for complete renovation and fencing.
The Toro Council Chief however decried non-payment of allowances to Education Supervisors who keep teachers on their toes in their efforts to promote education growth and development, and called on the state government to provide financial assistance to the Local Government in this regard.
Dansidi, similarly commended the state government for the deployment of military operatives to ward-off criminals taking shelter in the Local Government forests, saying the area hitherto record about 15 cases of kidnapping on daily basis, and expressed delight that people in the area now enjoy relative peace.
The Head of Administration also thumped-up for Governor Mohammed Abubakar particularly in the area of road construction, intervention on education and health sectors, security, youths and women empowerment and humanitarian services.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi Local Government Council has tendered a passionate appeal to the state Ministry for Local Government Affairs to consider the council’s 2017 budget proposals for subsequent implementation to meet the needs of its people.
The council’s Head of Administration, Alhaji Nasiru Usman told DEI during a visit to the Local Government that the budget proposals submitted to the ministry for its approval will go a long way in meeting the needs and aspirations of the electorate when implemented.
He explained that Bauchi Local Government Council is fully determined to implement policies and programmes of the state government being tailored to meet the expectations of people, especially in areas of education, health, youths and women empowerment, and called for the state government’s support and cooperation.
Alhaji Nasiru Usman also noted the tremendous response being recorded in the on-going voter registration in Toro attributable to the enlightenment drive embarked upon by a committee set up by the Local Government that toured the nooks and crannies of the state.
Usman, who assumed duty last August, disclosed that based on complaints by the four districts under the Local Government, the council has started providing monthly financial assistance to district head offices for day-today running of the offices that was hitherto done out of personal pockets.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
