Mistura Olasinde and her two daughters, Hauwa and Fatima, residents of Starwood Estate in Galadimawa, Abuja, were abducted on their way home from Garki on September 8, 2023. According to her husband, Surajudeen Olasinde, the abduction occurred near Kabusa Garden Estate due to the poor condition of the road, allowing the kidnappers to emerge from a nearby bush and seize them.

Although immediate efforts were made by the police and local vigilantes to locate them, the search yielded no results. While away in Kwara State during the incident, Mr. Olasinde shared that the kidnappers initially demanded a ₦100 million ransom, which eventually dropped to ₦2.840 million following negotiations. This amount was successfully paid, resulting in the release of his wife and daughters.

The traumatized family is now seeking medical attention and pleading with President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for enhanced security measures. Despite numerous kidnappings in the area, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said they hadn’t received a briefing on this incident but promised to update once informed.
