Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has confirmed plans to allocate ₦‎5 billion for the refurbishment of the Governor’s Office in Calabar, aiming to bring it in line with its esteemed status. During a conversation with reporters, he emphasized the importance of the office serving as a prominent symbol for the state. Furthermore, he pledged to undertake similar renovations for the state’s liaison offices in Abuja, Lagos, and other locations to maintain a consistent and impressive image.

Governor Otu expressed his dissatisfaction with the current condition of the governor’s office, highlighting that improving it to meet appropriate standards could attract potential investors interested in doing business with the state. He emphasized his commitment to investing the necessary funds to create a fitting environment, acknowledging that a clean and aesthetically pleasing workspace is crucial in attracting and retaining investors.

The governor assured transparency in the renovation process, with estimated costs ranging from ₦3 to ₦5 billion. Notably, contractors are currently offering their services pro bono to kickstart the project.
