Kano TikToker Murja Kunya Restricted from Social Media Use by Court

A Kano State High Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Nasiru Saminu, granted bail to controversial TikToker Murja Kunya on Monday, setting the bail sum at N500,000.

This decision followed Kunya’s bail application, prompted by a directive from the Kano Shari’ah Court mandating a mental evaluation by a psychiatric doctor.

In his ruling, Justice Saminu specified that the bail conditions included two reliable sureties, one being a relative and the other possessing landed property in Kano municipal.

Additionally, the judge imposed a restriction on Miss Kunya’s usage of social media accounts until the case’s determination, warning that any breach would result in the Kano Commissioner of Police arresting her and bringing her back to court.

Moreover, the court mandated the presence of the defendants’ counsel, the Attorney General, representatives from the Hisbah Board, and the Commissioner of Police for discussions regarding amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law, ensuring proper adjudication.

Further proceedings were adjourned until May 16, 2024.
