The Lagos State Government has issued a travel advisory following a crash involving a container-laden truck at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening near Admiralty Road, caused significant traffic disruption in the area.

According to reports, the truck was attempting to ascend the bridge with a 40-foot container when it collided with the steel height barrier. The impact destroyed the barrier, which became lodged between the container and the front of the truck, blocking the bridge entrance.

The accident caused a serious traffic gridlock on the bridge and surrounding roads. Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were quickly deployed to manage the situation.

By Wednesday morning, traffic was being diverted to the Lekki Phase 1 tollgate corridor. LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs, Taofiq Adebayo, urged motorists to stay calm and drive cautiously through the area. He also recommended alternative routes, including Ikoyi’s Kingsway Road, to ease the congestion.

Efforts are ongoing to clear the obstruction and repair the damaged infrastructure. The government assured road users that normal traffic flow would be restored soon.
