OBA Ewuare 11 Offers Land For Mass Cassava Production

As part of his determination and strong commitment to ensure youths employment and virile economy through agriculture in the state, the Benin monarch Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare 11 has again made available twenty thousand hectres of arable land for immediate take off of mass production of cassava and processing in this farming season in the state.

Oba Ewuare said, when established, many unemployed youths will be taken of the street as well as creating better markets for all cassava farmers across the state.

The royal father disclose this on Monday when the chairman of Guinness Nigeria Mr Babatunde Savage, led the management team on a working visit to his palace in Benin city, Edo state.

Omo n’oba, who stressed that his vision was to revive agriculture to ensure adequate food supply and raw materials for industries, noted that he will join forces with the state government to create enabling environment for investors in the sector.

Visibly delighted over the progress recorded by Guinness Nigeria in its effort to complement palace’s efforts in agro businesses, the monarch promised to give the necessary support for smooth take off of the project this farming season.

Earlier the leader of the team, Mr Babatunde Savage had told the monarch that they were at the palace to brief him on the successes recorded and some of the challenges being faced in its bid to commenced mass production of cassava and processing in Bini kingdom

According to him, the over twenty million dollars proposed mass cassava production farming would also be processed to produced flower, starch, sugar and ethanol for industrial uses

He said, the proposed mass cassava production which will kick off this farming season, is expected to produce over twenty thousand tones of cassava annually.
