The 10th Rivers State House of Assembly has resumed its sittings at a new complex within the Government House, Port Harcourt. Led by Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the lawmakers moved to the new venue following the demolition of the Assembly building on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
This relocation comes after a State High Court order allowed Edison to remain the Speaker of the Assembly until the ongoing legal matter is resolved. The decision to move was reportedly made under the directive of the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who provided the new location for the Assembly’s sessions.
In their first sitting at the new complex, the lawmakers elected Hon. Adolphus T. Orubienimigha as the new majority leader of the assembly. The Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Barr Ehie Edison, and other members, has resumed its legislative activities, debating bills for the benefit of the people of Rivers State.
