(SSANU) has warned that there should not be disparity in salaries of university workers.
The association solicits a uniform salary structure for members of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and SSANU to end the ongoing strike in the education sector.
The association gave the warning on Thursday in news conference at College of Health Sciences, Adankolo Campus, Federal University of Lokoja.
Mr Adedeji Kazeem-Saurau, the chairman of the association in the university, advised the federal government to put necessary machineries in place and address the salary disparities.
“We won’t sit down and watch this discriminatory planned salary increase to continue.
“SSANU commends the Minister of Labour Chris Ngige for turning down the unreasonable wide differential salary review for teaching and non-teaching staff proposed by Nimi-Briggs Committee.
“We are also stakeholders’ and very much eager to see our students return to the campuses by ending the strike to stop our children from going abroad to study,” he said.
Kazeem-Saurau, however, called on government to ensure that the grievances of SSANU, NASU and ASSU were addressed on time for the reopening of the universities.
