Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and Professor of Constitutional Law, Rt. Hon. Ali Ahmad has expressed sadness over the passing of retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore.
The revered jurist died on Tuesday evening after breaking his Ramadan fast, according to family sources.
The former Speaker in a statement issued by the spokesperson for his media office, Steve Makinde, described the demise of the revered jurist as one death too many, praying for the repose of the soul of the legal luminary.
Professor Ali equally commiserated with the Ilorin Emirates Council led by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the good people of Balogun Fulani constituency, praying Allah to grant them the fortitude to bear the passing of the deceased.
The statement reads, “I express my heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore, over the passing of the late jurist who served the bar meritoriously throughout his service years.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the Ilorin Emirates Council led by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the good people of Balogun Fulani constituency at this difficult time. May Almighty Allah grant us all the comfort to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“The demise of Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore is one death too many. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, associates, and members of the bar who cherished the love for humanity and endearing legacies of our beloved jurist.
“It is my prayer that Almighty Allah accepts his return, forgives his shortcomings, and grants Justice Belgore Aljanatil-Fridaus,” Professor Ali prayed.
